The government could increase the number of tax-exempt overtime hours. The limit is currently set at 5,000 euros.

Improving his salary could go through an increase in tax-exempt overtime. Jad Naji, purchasing manager at ULS Transports, is ready to do more if they are not subject to income tax. “Of course, the fact that it is taxable can only encourage me to ask for it.“, he says. Overtime for employees is now tax-exempt up to 5,000 euros per year. The annual ceiling could rise to 7,500 euros.

The measure will be debated in the National Assembly next week, during the examination of the purchasing power bill. The presidential majority is in favor of it. The left is opposed to the measure. Sébastien Jumel, MP (PCF) for Seine-Maritime, denounces “a way to give up debating the increase in wages on all“. The text should however be adopted, thanks to the Republicans and the National Rally.
