(Montreal) Singer-songwriter Gab Bouchard and his co-writer Mathieu Quenneville won the French-speaking portion of the SOCAN Song Prize for Your shift is not over.
The song in question appears on the second album of the artist from Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Grafigneslaunched in 2022.
The prize is the result of a public vote among eight nominated songs which were selected by a music industry jury.
Bouchard and Quenneville said they were happy to receive this recognition and to have resonated with the public.
Winners are awarded a $10,000 scholarship, as well as a new musical instrument provided by Yamaha worth up to $2,500.
Among the other songs nominated were: Fromwritten and performed by Lydia Képinski, Girl to wearwritten by Ariane Roy and Roxane Azzaria and performed by Roy and Lou-Adriane Cassidy, as well as Where do I come fromby Simon Bolduc, performed by Bolduc crookedly.
The last recipient of this award was Hubert Lenoir, for his song Secretwritten by himself, Félix Côté and Julien Chiasson.
