Accumulations of 15 to 20 cm of snow are expected from Friday to Saturday morning in Greater Montreal, according to Environment Canada.
The federal agency issued a snow warning on Thursday for Montreal, Laval, and certain areas of the South Shore, namely Châteauguay, La Prairie, Longueuil and Varennes.
“A depression moving up the US east coast will bring snow starting Friday morning,” writes Environment Canada. “The snow will intensify in the afternoon and give total accumulations of 15 to 20 centimeters through Saturday morning. »
“Be prepared for changing and rapidly deteriorating road conditions,” the agency warns. “Visibility can be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow” and “there could be significant impacts on rush hour traffic.”
It should be the second, and most significant, snowfall of the season in Greater Montreal after the precipitation in mid-November.
