“Snake Ladder”, Population II | The duty

The guys are not idle: only six months after presenting their impressive second album Free electrons from Quebec, the members of the young experimental prog-rock trio Population II unveil a new microalbum of four unreleased compositions which broadens their musical horizons, at least in terms of composition. Bipolar Helene — contained in the verse, unleashed in the chorus — at the opening is undoubtedly the most conventional song, in terms of structure, in the repertoire of this group rather focused on confusing sequences. The same observation will be made about R.B., the barrage of guitars forming a crescendo on a rhythm deployed horizontally. With The snakewe return to the Population II of his first prog loves, the synths waltzing behind the groove with such grace that, all things being relative, one could almost qualify it as a ballad, setting the tone for the theatrical As you wish (Ding Dong) finally. Notice to collectors: Snake Ladder will be published in good old cassette.
