Small World, Metronomy | The duty

Already eleven years since the marvelous The English Riviera with which Metronomy put us all in its little pocket. A few months after a collaborative EP (Posse EP, Vol. 1), the British group is launching a seventh album powered by two pop nuggets: Things Will Be Fine and It’s Good to Be Back. Joseph Mount has also spent the last two years in a cabin with young children, far from the intensity of touring life, and you can hear it. Written at home during confinement, Small Worldis an introspective and solar album. The horizon has shrunk a little, but the attention is focused on the little things, we return to simple pleasures and we manage to rejoice in them. At times, the synthetic side of certain less rich rhythms annoys the ear a little, and we would have liked to hear more distinctively the irresistible bass of Olugbenga Adelekan. Although short, the album is quite eclectic; the atmospheres vary from one beach to another. The duet with Dana Margolin of Porridge Radio (hold me tonight), full of charm and under the influence of the Cure, is tasty. Let’s not sulk our pleasure.
