SM Caen – Stéphane Moulin: “For now, we’re climbing the stairs not too badly”

After receiving Metz (1-0) and two trips to Nîmes (0-1) and Dijon (2-2), the SM Caen continues to progress in a strong start-of-season calendar. This Saturdayit is co-leader Guingamp who travels to Ornano. “We are still going to calibrate ourselves to what is bestrejoices Stéphane Moulin. We’ll see where we’ll be at the end of August, but so far we’re climbing the stairs not too badly.”

With seven pts garnered out of the nine put into play, so far the Caen team has indeed approached this new championship well.

“Beyond the dots, says striker Alexandre Mendy, it’s more what we put in the matches, especially that of Nîmes (0-1). The script for me is amazing. We manage to score at the end with Godson (Kyeremeh) who had returned during the game. It was as good as a victory that we could have had last year by scoring four goals against Toulouse. People were extremely happy and that marked something in any case.”

Two teams on the heels of their end to last season

Like SM Caen but in an even more marked way, the Breton team was able to continue the positive trajectory it had launched at the end of last season. The two teams also have the same number of points at the time of facing each other during this 4th day of Ligue 2. If Caen has not lost since January 28 at home (Against Niort), we must go back to March 5 and a trip to Sochaux to track down Guingamp’s away defeat.

The Guingampais are on nine games without defeat including seven wins and two draws, insists the Caen coach. This means that they actually finished last season very well – we were the victims with three games remaining – but it also means that they have restarted very well with also very important modifications. Strong players have left, but when a team exists and it’s good, that doesn’t weaken this team, which is very strong for them.”

The workforce

“Everyone is present” notes with satisfaction and in a now almost routine way Stéphane Moulin. The defender Emmanuel Ntim will be able to join the group and the infirmary will therefore be empty again. We are far from last year and these cascades of injuries which had plagued the first half of the season.

The probable group : Anthony Mandréa, Yannis Clementia – Adolphe Teikeu, Ibrahim Cissé, Romain Thomas, Ali Abdi, Johann Obiang, Hugo Vandermersch, Emmanuel Ntim – Quentin Daubin, Bilal Brahimi, Djibril Diani, Yoann Court – Benjamin Jeannot, Caleb Zady Sery, Emmanuel Essende, Alexandre Mendy, Godson Kyeremeh.
