The situation has deteriorated since 2019, said deputy leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) Alexandre Boulerice. He reacted thus to the news published in Press Wednesday which shows that permanent residence files are handled inconsistently by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

“People from all over the island of Montreal are calling on us to help them with their immigration files. We are inundated, and it is because the Liberals are not doing their job, ”he said in an email sent to Press Thursday.

A troubling situation from a human and financial point of view, when “too many families suffer from a prolonged separation, and [que] many sectors are struggling to find qualified workers, ”he added.

According to Alexandre Boulerice, the delays are caused by mismanagement by the Liberal Party of Canada. ” They [les libéraux] were never transparent about the reasons for their choice to slow down the files [de demandes de résidences permanentes] and fail to find a solution to the problem, ”he said.

The deputy leader of the NDP maintains that his party will continue to follow the Liberals on the file, “because people deserve better!” ”
