“Books have given me a special joy since my childhood, and that is why I do not want to stand idly by while books are banned in schools,” the artist said in a statement.
During its upcoming concerts in Florida, P!nk will distribute 2,000 copies of four books banned in several schools in the state, namely The Family Book by Todd Parr, The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman, Beloved by Toni Morrison and a book from the foundation Girls Who Codefounded by Reshma Saujani.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has relaxed certain laws allowing the banning of many works linked in particular to race or sexual orientation in schools and libraries. A book by the author Élise Gravel, Pink, blue and you, on gender stereotypes, was also removed from shelves.
