Inflation is also doing damage in real estate, where there is a rise in rents. Faced with this pitfall, the question of their supervision is raised, as explained by journalist Christophe Carnino.

Rents are rising sharply in France. And for good reason : the rent reference index (IRL) is indexed to inflation, which has been very strong for several weeks. INSEE explains that theIRL jumped from 2.48% in the first half of 2022, compared to last year. This is an unprecedented increase since 2008, and according to professional forecasts, it could increase by another 5% by October 2022.“, warns the journalist of France Télévisions Christophe carnino.

Paris is one of the cities most affected by the increase in rents in recent years. To deal with it, the town hall has decided to regulate rents, as is the case in Lille or Lyon. The measure results in the prohibition for landlords to set the rent above a maximum amount. However, some housing escapes this framework, in particular social housing, APL approved housing or even sub-letting.
