A shooting involving several people in Birmingham, Alabama (United States), left at least four dead and dozens injured, police announced on Sunday, September 22. “We believe that multiple shooters fired multiple shots at a group of people.” in a Birmingham neighborhood on Saturday night, a police officer told local media.
Three adults, two men and a woman, were found on the sidewalk with fatal gunshot wounds, while a fourth victim died at a local hospital. In total, dozens of people were shot, four of whom are in serious condition, the officer said.
Police have not yet made any arrests, he said, urging the public to come forward with any information that could help the investigation. Firefighters responded Saturday night and cordoned off the area. With more guns than people, the United States has the highest gun-related death rate of any developed country.
