The new suspect apprehended, a 20-year-old Montrealer, was arrested in Vancouver thanks to the collaboration between local authorities and the Montreal police’s Multi-Sector Firearms Team (EMAF).
“The suspect had been holed up in British Columbia for several days. He will be repatriated to the metropolis over the next few days and will appear at the Montreal courthouse,” said the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) in a press release on Monday.
“I would like to underline the exemplary work of the SPVM staff and thank the collaboration of our partners in the Vancouver police, which allowed this new arrest to be added to the three previous ones. I reiterate to Montrealers that our teams are dedicated to the fight against armed violence and that we work collectively tirelessly. We will never give up,” said SPVM interim director Sophie Roy.
This is the fourth arrest in connection with this case. Recall that nearly 80 shots were fired during these events, on August 10 and 11.
On August 12, a major police deployment led to the arrest of Dardy Lavaud, 18, and Robby Valère, 23. On August 23, Josué Agnant, 21, was apprehended in turn by investigators.
The three individuals have all appeared at the Montreal courthouse and are notably accused of two attempted murders.
