(Paris) A man was shot dead and four other people were injured more lightly in a shooting Monday evening in the XIe arrondissement of Paris, we learned from the Paris police headquarters, which specified that a suspect had been arrested.

The facts took place around 9:30 p.m., rue Popincourt, “two individuals got out of a vehicle and shot at two individuals seated at the terrace of a bar”, detailed the prefecture to AFP, adding that the he hypothesis of a settling of accounts was favored at this stage.
The second suspect “succeeded in fleeing,” said the same source.
“We saw a car arrive, they came out with a weapon – I would have said a submachine gun or a Kalashnikov – they fired and they left”, testified to AFP, Antoine, boss of a nearby restaurant.
“I just had time to tell the staff to go inside. Everyone ran away,” he added.
“It lasted 20-30 seconds. I immediately understood that it was a settling of scores and that the other establishments would not be affected, ”assured the restaurant owner of this district marked by the attacks of January and November 2015.
The injured people did not seem to have been shot, according to the first elements collected by the police headquarters.
According to the mayor of the XIe district, François Vauglin, the shooting took place in a “shisha bar”. “The customers of the bar have mastered one of the two assailants”, added the elected official in a tweet, denouncing a “barbaric act”.
Many chairs were visible on the sidewalk in front of the bar and a security perimeter had been set up by the police, noted an AFP journalist on the spot.
An investigation has been opened for “voluntary homicide and attempted voluntary homicide”, a source familiar with the matter told AFP. She was entrusted to the second district of the Paris judicial police.
