Several cities, such as Pau, Tarbes, Périgueux, Clermont-Ferrand and Bourges cancel their concerts scheduled for this evening for the Fête de la Musique, because of the risk of thunderstorms, reports France Bleu. From 8 p.m., 19 departments, from Haute-Garonne to the Ardennes, are classified as orange alert to thunderstorms by Météo France.
In Pau, the city explains that it has “tried to the end [de maintenir les concerts]but the forecasts are too bad with risks of thunderstorms and hail”, says France Bleu Béarn Bigorre. The cities of Tarbes and Lourdes have also decided to cancel their events for security risks.
Some concerts moved indoors
The mayor of Clermont-Ferrand has issued an order to cancel the concerts of this 41st edition of the Fête de la musique, in connection with the prefecture of Puy-de-Dôme. He justifies this decision by the forecasts of Météo-France “announcing a risk of thunderstorms, hail and gusts of wind at 65 km / h from 6 p.m., with potentially the first thunderstorms from 3 p.m.”.
The municipalities of the Basque Country are also getting organized. In Bayonne, the majority of the events planned on the outdoor stages are canceled. On the other hand, some concerts are moved indoors, in particular in the Grand Salon of the Town Hall and in the Spanish Cultural Center. In Saint-Jean-de-Luz, a concert planned under a kiosk is canceled, but the rest is maintained.
In the Landes, the concerts of the Music Festival are canceled in Capbreton, Dax and Mont-de-Marsan.
