As the government announces an action plan to end elder abuse, the management of the “Les Opalines” nursing home in Moutiers-en-Cinglais is called into question by the ARS of Normandy and the Departmental Council of Calvados, accused of serious misconduct. The management of the establishment is replaced for six months by a provisional administration.
Several serious malfunctions noted
This is an unexpected check within the “Les Opalines” nursing home, which revealed serious malfunctions. The visit to the premises and the interviews conducted with around twenty professionals and families of the residents revealed any a series of failures, both in the quality or safety of care and in the management of the establishment.
Insufficient laundry hygiene, unsuitable rooms
In a press release, the ARS of Normandy details the numerous shortcomings observed.
Insufficient number of nursing staff for “guarantee the safety of residents and respect for their individual needs and rhythms“. Safety is also in question with some “major failures“spotted”in the drug circuit” and “several rooms“judged”unsuitable“. The quality of care is also denounced throughinsufficient laundry hygiene“.
The management of the Ehpad questioned
The Normandy ARS calls into question the shortcomings of the management which, according to her, has failed to fulfill its primary mission: to ensure the autonomy of the residents.
The management is therefore replaced for 6 months by a provisional administration. It is up to her to take the necessary measures for better care of the people received.
Waiting for, the “Les Opalines” nursing home will not welcome any new residents.
