Serious gondola accident in Mont-Tremblant

A summer vacation turned into a nightmare on Sunday when a panoramic cabin in the tourist village of Mont-Tremblant fell several meters high. The two people on board during the accident are in critical condition.

Shortly before noon, the cabin in which the two victims were in collided with “construction machinery” equipment, according to preliminary information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). Following this collision, the cabin separated from its cable before falling to the ground.

The two passengers, whose identity has not been revealed, were transported to the nearest hospital. They are in “critical condition”.

The gondola ride to reach the summit of Mont-Tremblant takes between 13 and 15 minutes, in summer, according to the tourist village’s official website. The cabins circulate at several meters altitude.

No details have yet filtered that would explain the reason for this collision, but SQ investigators are already at the scene of the accident in order to understand the causes of this accident.
