A septuagenarian won nearly 27 million euros at EuroMillions on March 18, the FDJ said in a press release reported by France Bleu Drôme Ardèche on Thursday April 21. The winning grid was validated in a tobacco shop in Cruas in Ardèche.
It was while watching the replay of the previous day’s draw that the septuagenarian discovered the good news: a gain of 26,825,597 euros. “I would really like several generations to be able to benefit from it”, testified the winner. With this sum, the Ardéchois wishes to build projects without haste. He doesn’t want to change house or car and above all wants to help his family.
His wife didn’t believe him when he told her the news. He then warned his children, with great emotion, especially when he realized that his ticket was no longer in the bag he had put in his jacket. “It had slipped and remained in my pocket”he said, with relief.
Asked about the winning combination, the septuagenarian indicated that he did not know where these numbers had come from. “Perhaps divine inspiration”he told the Française des Jeux, specifying that he will continue to play but with new numbers.
On April 6, another French Euromillions winner, won in December 2020, invested almost all of his 200 million euros in winnings in the creation of a foundation to preserve the environment.
