Seine: an orca observed to everyone’s surprise

On the banks of the Seine, many residents pile up to see a phenomenon that is strange to say the least. an orca of four meters has been seen several times near Normandy. A nature lover can’t believe it not. “This is not its natural environment per se, but it is still incredible to be able to observe it.“ Indeed, this animal is more accustomed to swimming in salty ocean waters than in fresh river waters.

While many curious people have come to observe it, others temper their enthusiasm by wondering about the presence of the killer whale about sixty kilometers from the oceans it usually frequents. Also, the animal’s fin is down, which means it’s probably weakened or scared. “It raises a lot of questions about its presence (…), it still evokes that we surely have a negative impact on certain species”, says an observer. A rescue, however, is not considered for the orca who seems in danger.
