“Seasons – fall-winter edition”, Apple | The duty

The orchestral tour that Pomme is continuing in the wake of the publication of Consolation (2022) inspired this project combining folk song and classical music on the theme of the seasons, of which she unveils the first two movements today. It’s very short (18 minutes) and sumptuous. Autumn (Purple magic) was designed in collaboration with Flavien Berger (co-director of Consolation), in winter, with Aaron Dessner, from The National. With Berger, there are fewer synths, more strings, Pomme inviting resignation as much as contemplation: “It’s beautiful when it starts to fall / When the branches break after summer”. The three pieces follow one another, a choir and muffled piano arpeggios accompany the singer’s soft voice. Winter (Christmas card) takes the form of a nursery rhyme, piano-voice on the first piece, the theme being continued on the two other minimalist pieces, brass and violins sweeping the melody like the wind blowing freshly fallen snow. Looking forward to the sequel in six months!
