QR code scams: crooks steal bank details

Be careful if you are going to recharge your electric vehicle: in the Loiret department, certain motorists flashed a QR Code stuck on a terminal and had their bank details stolen.
With the Covid-19 pandemic, their use has become widespread to pay for a parking space, consult a menu at a restaurant, or even recharge your electric car. QR Codes to scan with your phone to be directed to a website. Simple, fast, but also a prime target for cybercriminals. In a town in Loiret, a brand new electric car charging station, recently installed, was almost immediately hacked.
An easy scam to pull off
To access the service, you must scan a code which allows you to pay via a website. The town hall thought this system was secure. Nearly 80 euros were swindled, but without immediate reaction from the town hall, the bill could have been much higher. A deception larger than life and easy to carry out. These practices concern the authorities because they are spreading. The profiles of the authors are varied.
