Alexandar Georgiev makes 41 saves in Avalanche win

Alexandar Georgiev made 41 saves as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Dallas Stars 4-1 on Saturday night.

Nathan MacKinnon and Josh Manson propelled the Avalanche forward with first period goals. Andrew Cogliano and Dryden Hunt also flashed the red light in the win.

The Avalanche took five minor penalties in the second period, but were able to save four. Joe Pavelski found the back of the net on the power play for the Stars.

Jason Robertson set the table for Pavelski’s goal, getting at least one point in a 15e consecutive game. It’s the second-longest active streak in the NHL, behind Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner’s 16 games.

Scott Wedgewood saved 32 pucks in net for the Stars, who were coming back from an overtime loss at the hands of the Winnipeg Jets.

Oilers win 4-3

Leon Draisaitl broke the deadlock at 17:58 in the third period on Saturday, leading the Edmonton Oilers to a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers.

Evan Bouchard (twice) and Dylan Holloway scored the Oilers’ other goals, all in the third period.

Holloway scored his first NHL goal.

The Albertan was the 14e choices in total in 2020.

Ryan McLeod had a career-high three assists.

Jack Campbell made 20 saves for the Oilers, who had lost their last two games.

Draisaitl collected his 12e goal this season during a punishment to Alexis Lafrenière, for roughness.

The Quebecer had obtained a third goal this season in the third minute of the game.

Julien Gauthier and Chris Kreider also scored, while Igor Shesterkin blocked 28 shots.

The Oilers will host the Florida Panthers on Monday.

Jack Hughes scores a hat trick as Devils win 5-1 over Capitals

Jack Hughes had a hat trick and the New Jersey Devils inflicted a 5-1 loss to the Washington Capitals on Saturday.

Captain Nico Hischier added a 10e aim. The Devils are 16-0-0 when he scores at least one point.

Fabian Zetterlund also scored for the Devils, who have won 15 of their last 16 games.

Lindy Ruff has reached the milestone of 800 NHL wins.

The fifth coach to reach this milestone, Ruff also coached Buffalo and Dallas. He had 571 wins with the Sabers.

Author of 38 saves, Vitek Vanececk was only foiled by John Carlson.

Charlie Lindgren made 24 saves.

The Capitals will play again Tuesday night in Vancouver.

Islanders score three goals in third to win 5-2 over Flyers

Brock Nelson and Anthony Beauvillier scored within 22 seconds in the third period and the New York Islanders won 5-2 against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night.

Nelson gave the Islanders a 3-2 lead with his 11e goal of the campaign, at 2:57. Beauviller doubled the lead when he beat goaltender Felix Sandstrom.

Zach Parise scored twice as Adam Pelech added a goal for the Islanders, who posted a fourth straight victory.

Ryan Pulock has assisted in four goals for the New Yorkers, who are 13-2-2 in their last 17 meetings against the Flyers. Semyon Varlamov blocked 25 shots.

Lukas Sedlak and Joel Farabee have darkened the scoresheet for the Flyers, who are 0-7-3 in their last 10 outings. They haven’t won since Nov. 8.

Sandstrom allowed five goals on 23 shots in the loss.

Mitch Marner’s streak continues in 4-1 Maple Leafs win

Mitch Marner had a goal and an assist to guide the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.

Marner got at least one point in a 16e consecutive match. The Maple Leafs record is 18 straight games.

Auston Matthews, William Nylander and Pontus Holmberg also moved the ropes for the Maple Leafs, who picked up at least one point in their eighth straight game.

Matthews became the seventh player in Toronto team history to score 200 career tie-digit goals.

Erik Kallgren stopped 25 pucks for the Maple Leafs, who won a third straight game. They’re 5-0-0 on the road in November.

Rickard Rakell threaded the needle for the Penguins, who saw their winning streak cut to five. Casey DeSmith stopped 37 shots.

Jordan Kyrou plays heroes in overtime and Blues defeat Panthers 5-4

Jordan Kyrou played heroes in overtime with his second goal of the game and the St. Louis Blues came from behind to defeat the Florida Panthers 5-4 on Saturday night.

The Blues recovered from a three-goal deficit in the third period, leveling the score when Vladimir Tarasenko found the back of the net with 3:49 remaining.

Brandon Saad and Ryan O’Reilly also hit the mark for the Blues. Thomas Greiss made 33 saves.

Aaron Ekblad, Radko Gudas, Carter Verhaeghe and Anton Lundell moved the ropes for the Panthers.

Spencer Knight stopped 32 pitches in a losing cause.

The Blues snapped a two-game losing streak as the Panthers suffered their fifth loss in seven games.

Brett Pesce broke the tie in the third period and the Carolina Hurricanes snapped a five-game losing streak on Saturday with a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames.

Pesce got his first goal of the season at 8:46.

Seth Jarvis and Martin Necas were the other scorers for Carolina.

Jarvis halted an 11-game drought.

Antti Raanta made 19 saves for the first time in five games.

Adam Ruzicka and Tyler Toffoli fought back for the Flames, who were losing a third straight game.

Dan Vladar stopped 30 shots.

The Hurricanes played their second game in a row with two superiority goals, after six straight games without a goal in such circumstances.

The club will begin a six-game road streak on Tuesday in Pittsburgh.

On the same day, the Flames will host Florida to kick off a five-game home stint.
