The British writer of Indian origin, Salman Rushdie, author of satanic verseswas attacked during a conference, Friday August 12, in front of the Chautauqua Institution, in the State of New York (USA). The writer received “stabbed in the neck and was airlifted to an area hospital”announced the police of the State of New York (in English), who also specified that “His state (of health) is not yet known”.

The person who moderated the debate in which Salman Rushdie took part was “slight head injury”again according to the authorities.

The author has been the target of a fatwa issued by Iranian Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini since 1989, a year after the publication of his book The Satanic Versesconsidered blasphemous by the Iranian authorities and many Muslims.
