Saint-Leonard | Cyclist dies after collision with vehicle

(Montreal) A cyclist lost his life after a collision with a vehicle, in the borough of Saint-Léonard, in Montreal, on Wednesday.

The 93-year-old man suffered upper body injuries and was taken to hospital, officers Mariane Allaire Morin and Gabriella Youakim of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) said earlier.

The man finally succumbed to his injuries, confirmed SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant at the end of the afternoon.

According to initial information from the SPVM, the collision occurred when the cyclist tried to cross between a vehicle and its trailer. The accident occurred at the intersection of Pascal-Gagnon and Louis-Sicard streets around 12:15 p.m.

The driver, a 57-year-old man, was not injured.

SPVM collision investigators went to the scene to understand the causes and circumstances of this event. The security perimeter was lifted in the afternoon.
