A three-story building with three apartments collapsed Monday afternoon in the Saint-Henri district of Montreal, without causing any casualties.
The building is located on Cazelais Street, near the Ville-Marie highway and the McGill University Health Centre.
Firefighters were called around 1:30 p.m., according to Montreal Fire Department spokesperson Georges Bele. “We were happy that there were no victims,” Bele said. Firefighters were able to secure the area before leaving around 4 p.m.
Work was taking place to the west of the building, in a former parking lot. However, the firefighters refuse to formally comment on the causes of this accident.
The file has been transferred to the City of Montreal, which will be able to shed light on the circumstances of the event.
