Schoolchildren from Saint-Alban (Côtes-d’Armor) were victims of carbon monoxide poisoning on Friday December 8. No casualties were reported.

Friday, December 8, late in the morning, the parents of schoolchildren in Saint-Alban (Côtes-d’Armor) received an alert message. Their children suffered carbon monoxide poisoning. “It’s scary, but afterwards, we knew they were taken care of. The director sent a reassuring message”, says a mother. Quickly on site, emergency services evacuated schoolchildren and staff. According to the prefecture, 48 victims were treated. Among them, almost half were transferred to hospital.

A psychological cell

All people transferred to hospital are conscious. Their vital prognosis is not in jeopardy. As a precaution, the “many casualties” plan had been activated. The sub-prefect indicated that an investigation would be carried out. At the moment, it appears that the school’s boiler may have malfunctioned. A medical-psychological unit has been set up.
