The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is conducting an investigation into the death of a baby that occurred Sunday in the borough of La Baie, in Saguenay.
Officers from the Saguenay Police Department were called to an apartment building in La Baie on Sunday regarding a three-month-old baby who was unconscious.
The baby was taken to the Chicoutimi hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said Nicolas Scholtus, spokesperson for the SQ.
The investigation is being conducted in collaboration with the Saguenay Police Department by the provincial police force’s crimes against persons investigation department.
“Several expert assessments as well as an autopsy will be carried out in order to try to determine the cause of death and to establish the causes and circumstances of all this,” said Mr. Scholtus.
