Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean | Toddler dies after being hit by motorist

(Montreal) A child under the age of two died on Sunday after being hit by a vehicle at a campsite in Saint-Nazaire, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.


Emergency services were called to the scene around 11 a.m. Sunday morning.

“According to initial information, the pedestrian, a toddler under two years old, was playing on the side of the road when a vehicle hit him. He was seriously injured and taken to hospital. Unfortunately, his death has been confirmed, ”explains Ève Brochu-Joubert, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital for nervous shock.

Investigators and reconstruction experts will go to the scene to shed light on this event.

“At first glance, there is no criminal element,” said Ms.me Brochu Joubert.

CLSC workers were present on the campground on Sunday to offer support to people who need it.
