A man in his fifties succumbed to his injuries after hitting a tree head-on while on his snowmobile in the ZEC Marc-Moulin, near the Laterrière sector, in Saguenay.

The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. Saturday morning, on a forest trail located about 15 kilometers from Chemin des Quatre Milles. The victim was part of a group of three snowmobilers at the time of the tragedy.
“The first information received indicates that it would have collided with a tree. Seriously injured, he was transported to the hospital centre, ”explains Hélène St-Pierre, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The death of the 50-year-old was confirmed shortly after. His identity should be revealed during the day, Sunday.
In the meantime, a police officer trained in collision investigation went to the scene to precisely establish the causes and circumstances of the accident.
For the moment, no particular hypothesis has been raised by the authorities.
