Russia: EU “closely monitors the situation”, “in contact” with the G7 powers

The President of the European Council Charles Michel said on Saturday “to closely monitor the situation in Russia” and to be “in contact with European leaders and G7 partners”, while the leader of the Wagner militia Evguéni Prigojine went into rebellion against Russian regular troops.

“This is clearly an internal Russian problem. Our support for Ukraine and [son président] Volodymyr Zelensky is unwavering,” tweeted the EU official.

The leaders of France, Germany and the United States have all said they are monitoring the situation closely. Italy, attentive, calls on its nationals to be cautious.
