Jean Lassalle, head of the Rural Alliance list for the European elections, was the guest of France 2’s “4 Truths” on Wednesday May 1.

The former candidate for the presidential election, Jean Lassalle, will carry his Rural Alliance list for the European elections on June 9. Associated with the National Hunters Federation, he wants to bring the voice of rurality to the European level. “We all come from rural areas (…) that’s why what I want to provide is to have the ability to listen. I want to listen. They are on the verge of despair”, he assures, referring to the angry movement of farmers. Jean Lassalle believes that we must also respond to specific issues, such as “business transfer”.

“It was me who launched Macron”

For these European elections, Jean Lassalle prepared by going to meet the territories and inhabitants of France. “Today our countryside wants to live but there is nothing left, there is no more public service”, he laments. He particularly regrets the presence of medical deserts or the absence of teachers in certain educational establishments. “Rural Alliance is the return of common sense, because that is what is missing the most”, proposes the candidate for the European elections. In particular, he promises to create “a rural world of resistance” in Brussels. He ensures that the rural world puts together lists across Europe.

To obtain MEPs in Parliament, the electoral lists must obtain 5% of the votes. For now, Jean Lassalle is far away in the polls. In 2022, he obtained only 3.13% of the votes in the presidential election. Figures that do not frighten the candidate. “I think there has not been a more virulent opponent of Emmanuel Macron than I have been”thunders the politician. “It was me who launched Macron in a certain way, because he discovered walking and I had walked 6,000 kilometers”he assures with pride, referring to La République en Marche, the old name of Renaissance.
