Ruba Ghazal enters the race for the position of co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire

Ruba Ghazal announces that she is entering the race for the position of co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire. The member for Mercier made the announcement surrounded by activists on Wednesday at La Fontaine Park in Montreal.

With her candidacy, she wishes to embody “the unity of the party and the love of Quebec”. She considers that the left party “has managed to emerge from the storm and that we will emerge stronger”, referring to the crisis which followed the departure of Émilise Lessard-Therrien, who left office after five months in office, deploring “an organizational blockage” within the party.

Ruba Ghazal tried to be elected as co-spokesperson alongside Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois in November 2023. She was narrowly beaten in the vote by Émilise Lessard-Therrien, who narrowly won in the second voting round.

Solidarity activists will choose the official successor of Mme Lessard-Therrien “by the fall”. In the meantime, the member for Sherbrooke, Christine Labrie, takes over in the interim.

Further details will follow.
