Roland Faure, former president and CEO of Radio France, died this Saturday at the age of 96, learned this Monday franceinfo from the family. Roland Faure had directed Radio France from 1986 to 1989. During this period, he created the continuous information radio, franceinfo, alongside Jérôme Bellay in 1987.

Born on October 10, 1926 in Montélimar, in the Drôme, Roland Faure began his career as a journalist in 1947 at Méridional-La France in Marseille. In 1952, he founded the Journal français du Brésil in Rio de Janeiro, of which he was editor-in-chief until 1953. Roland Faure then joined L’Aurore the following year and became its director-editor-in-chief between 1968 and 1978. In 1979, and until 1981, he became the director of information for Radio France. He created the CVS Canal Versailles Stéréo radio station, before taking over as general manager of Radio France in 1986.

In 1989, Roland Faure left the presidency of the public audiovisual group and was appointed by the President of the Senate at the time to sit on the Superior Audiovisual Council (CSA), which had just been created. He will remain a member of the Audiovisual Constable until 1997.
