Roland Dumas “had several lives in an exceptionally long existence”, says François Hollande

Roland Dumas “had several lives in one exceptionally long existence”paid tribute to former President of the Republic François Hollande on France Bleu Limousin on Wednesday July 3 after the death of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of François Mitterrand, at the age of 101.

“What will remain of him is his talent as a diplomat.he said. He had this rare quality of speaking several languages, of always being seductive, intelligent and capable, through negotiation, of resolving a certain number of difficulties.”he greeted. Roland Dumas was able to put his talents as a lawyer and his incredible sense of negotiation at the service of the Republic.”he added.

François Hollande was able to speak with the former president of the Constitutional Council several months ago: “He was holding on, valiantly. He was no longer walking, but he was still conscious. He was lucid about what was happening in the world.”he testified.

Son of a resistance fighter, a resistance fighter himself, Roland Dumas always worked for peace, according to François Hollande: “The death of his father and his involvement in the Resistance had fueled his passion for the common good and for avoiding war.”he said.
