“While I’m extremely flattered to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t think I’ve earned this right,” the singer-songwriter wrote on social media. “I really don’t want the votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully step aside. »

The singer, who has won nine Grammy awards in her career, is definitely not turning her back on that honor. “I hope the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to consider me again — if I’m ever worthy. It did, however, inspire me to release a rock and roll album, hopefully at some point in the future, which I’ve always wanted to do! My husband is a rock and roll maniac and has always encouraged me to make one,” continued the artist, who was inducted into the Country Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame- composers, in 2001.

Besides Dolly Parton, Beck, Duran Duran, Eminem, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest, Pat Benatar, Kate Bush, Devo, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, Fela Kuti, MC5, The New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine and Dionne Warwick are in the running to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
