Unsurprisingly, the National Rally (RN) will vote for censure if the New Popular Front (NFP) is appointed to Matignon, declared Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella on Monday, August 26, at the end of an interview at the Elysée with Emmanuel Macron, which lasted about an hour and a half. And the hypothesis of a left-wing government without an Insoumis minister “doesn’t change anything at all” for the RN. “The New Popular Front is led by La France Insoumisesaid Marine Le Pen. So it is Jean-Luc Mélenchon who will actually lead this government.”
For the far-right party, with 126 deputies, “there is no question” to let pass “a policy which would aim to considerably increase immigration and regularise illegal immigrants”which would be “mostly rejected in the country”.
The president of the RN group in the National Assembly estimated “useful” that the appointed Prime Minister be “respectful” RN voters but also “their ideas”. “We can’t pretend nothing happened” during the legislative elections, said the MP, who also dismissed the hypothesis of a technical government. “I don’t believe it at all. (…) There are only political governments hiding behind technical names”she said. And Marine Le Pen hammered home: “We said either there will be a stable National Rally majority, or there will be chaos. Emmanuel Macron has chosen chaos.”
