Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles: one dead in a collision

A man died overnight from Saturday to Sunday in Montreal, in the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles (RDP-PAT) borough, after his car was hit by another vehicle at a red light .

The collision occurred around 10:45 p.m. Saturday evening, according to a spokeswoman for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The first vehicle was stopped at a red light on Henri-Bourassa Boulevard, near 6th Avenue, eastbound. The second vehicle, which was traveling in the same direction, collided with the first vehicle, which immediately caught fire.
The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver, aged 19, was transported to a hospital for lower body injuries that do not give rise to fear for his life.
Alcohol and speed could be involved. A perimeter has been erected and an investigation is underway to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident.
