(Rio de Janeiro) Defending champion Cameron Norrie defeated Tomás Barrios Vera 6-1, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals of the Rio tournament on Thursday.
Due to rain, the duel, which was initially scheduled to be played on Wednesday, finally took place the next day.
Second seed in the tournament, Norrie won the first set in just 26 minutes.
Norrie will play local favorite Thiago Seyboth Wild on Friday.
Seyboth Wild, 82e in the world, defeated Jaume Munar 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 and became the first Brazilian to advance to the quarterfinals of this tournament since 2017.
