Andrelton Simmons, a four-time Gold Glove winner at shortstop during his 11-year career in the majors, is retiring.
Simmons, 34, made the announcement via an Instagram post from his agency, ISE Baseball.
Simmons was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his official debut with the team in 2012.
Simmons had a .263 batting average, hitting 70 long balls in 1,226 career games. He also produced 444 points. The shortstop also played for the Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins and Chicago Cubs. His last game was with the Cubs, in July 2022.
Simmons won the Gold Glove in 2013 and 2014 with the Braves, then in 2017 and 2018 with the Angels.
