The Sainte-Soline mega-basin site, in Deux-Sèvres, was the site of violent clashes between demonstrators and the police on Saturday March 25. Two days after the incident, local residents noticed the damage.

Monday, March 27, clashes in Saint-Soline (Deux-Sèvres), only the traces of charred vehicles, piles of ammunition and fields ravaged by the passage of demonstrators remain. The plot of Arthur Perrault, farmer, was on the way of the procession. Damage is sometimes targeted. Activists attacked his irrigation system. On Saturday March 25, the Saint-Soline basin site turned into a battlefield. According to the organizers, they were 30,000 demonstrators. The exchanges between the police and the demonstrators were sometimes violent.

A claim for compensation

That day, a few kilometers away, the village of Vanzay was overwhelmed by the thousands of demonstrators who went to the scene. A procession that did a lot of damage in the village. The town hall is asking for repairs. “We have all the shoulders that are rutted. […] We are going to file a complaint so that we can be compensated.”, says the city councilor, François Brossard (SE). Monday, March 27, several dozen demonstrators were still in Melle (Deux-Sèvres) to dismantle their installations before their departure.
