In Ukraine, twelve days after the destruction of the Kakhovka dam, the consequences are still disastrous in the surrounding towns. Many inhabitants find themselves deprived of water and do not see how to survive.

An almost completely dry lake. In southern Ukraine, the destruction of the Kakhovka dam took away much of the water from the village of Mar’yans’ke. “There was eight meters deep before and now nothing, everything is gone” laments a resident. It is now impossible for the inhabitants to stay in this village.

Deadly floods in the region

Since June 6 and the destruction of the dam, floods have ravaged southern Ukraine, but also the territories occupied by Russia. kyiv and Moscow blame each other for the origin of the rupture of this dam. For many, this is a humanitarian and ecological disaster. In a final report, Russia mentioned around thirty deaths due to flooding in the territories it controls. On the Ukrainian side, more than fifteen deaths have already been recorded following the destruction of the dam.
