With the long weekend in May, we feel like a wind of summer vacation is looming. Direction Saint-Jean-de-Monts in Vendée where hoteliers are already starting to fill up for the summer period while reservations are on the rise in France.

There is a smell of summer holidays in Vendée for this long weekend. AT Saint-Jean-de-Monts in Vendée, it is 21 degrees in the afternoon. The beaches are popular and this should continue this summer. In a hotel, we are already almost full for the month of August. “Anything that is triple, quadruple, we already have almost no more availability”, launches a hotelier. And while that doesn’t seem unusual as summer approaches, there is a difference this year. “We were surprised, it was pleasant, to have long stays. (…) People will stay for a fortnight, or three weeks”, she adds.

More requests in Brittany

In France, reservations for this summer are up 27% compared to 2022. In the streets, tourists all seem to have anticipated. “It was better to do it early because it’s gone quickly”, says one of them. On the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts, the reservation rate remains stable. But in Brittany, there would be more requests.
