On the tarmac of Tel Aviv airport, Canadians and their loved ones board a Canadian Armed Forces aircraft whose motto is “Anything, Anytime”.
Flight attendant Melanie Speichts holds a baby as passengers settle in on the evacuation flight to Athens, Greece. From there, it is up to the evacuees to cover the costs of accommodation and the rest of their trip.
The aircraft landed in the Greek capital late Wednesday afternoon local time. According to Global Affairs Canada, the operation to repatriate Canadians caught in Israel is about to end; more than 1,350 people took advantage of it.
