RénoAssistance/APCHQ survey | Stable renovation intentions despite economic uncertainty

It’s the turn of RénoAssistance and the Association of Construction and Housing Professionals of Quebec (APCHQ) to unveil the results of a survey of Quebecers’ renovation intentions.

Their conclusion: renovation intentions and the budgets provided for this purpose remain stable and very close to those expressed in 2022 – with an average of $21,000 for interior work and $20,000 for exterior work. The budgets planned for the expansions have, for their part, been revised downwards ($73,000 on average, or $8,000 less than last year).

However, individuals seem to be divided on the economic uncertainty, 48% of respondents saying that the postponement of their project is not excluded in the event of deterioration, while 46% are confident in their realization, whatever happens. In terms of the most popular renovations over a three-year horizon, those concerning the interior are particularly represented (including the major renovation of the bathroom, floors and minor work); outdoor construction sites should increase by 2025, in particular work on balconies, patios or terraces. The survey was conducted in January 2023 among more than 1,000 Quebecers who intend to carry out work worth at least $5,000 within three years.
