Renaud and his friends come together to support UNICEF’s actions for children

Through three initiatives, the “Words and Images” project is a celebration of Renaud’s repertoire. It is launched with a Parisian concert in the presence of the artist.

Renaud’s musician friends will give a concert on Thursday, September 5 in Paris, in tribute to the singer and on the occasion of an exhibition and the release of a collection of works by contemporary artists illustrating his songs. The association of the singer Renaud and the artist Ernest Pignon-Ernest is at the origin of these three events. They are part of an artistic project entitled Words and images At benefit from UNICEF’s actions, the UN agency said in a statement.

The concert, at the town hall of the 13th arrondissement (east of Paris), will begin at 7 p.m.Renaud wanted to bring together some of his musician and singer friends for the occasion. In an interview with Parisian On Wednesday, September 4, the interpreter declared: “sing two songs”.

This evening corresponds to the opening of the exhibition which runs until September 14. It will mark “also the release in bookstores of the collection” published by Gallimard Alternatives. Twenty artists, including urban art pioneer Ernest Pignon-Ernest, street artists Jef Aérosol and C215, and painters Françoise Pétrovitch and Anna Foka have also each illustrated one of the singer’s titles (Titi’s mother, Mistral winner, Morgane of you, As soon as the wind blows…).

These works exhibited at the town hall of the 13th arrondissement, are published in a collection (Gallimard Alternatives) which comes out in bookstores on Thursday, and will be the subject of an auction on September 13 at “7 p.m. in the function room of the 13th arrondissement town hall and online thanks to drouot.com”.

Renaud, 72, started a tour in early 2023, after a six-year absence, before releasing the album in the fall In my stringsin which he revisits his repertoire in symphonic form.

It also indicates to the Parisian that he “is preparing (his) 50 years of songs, the anniversary of which will take place in May 2025”. “There will be a beautiful book, with unpublished photos and words, and a documentary. There will also be a new album next year, I hope. I have started writing songs.”adds the artist.
