Renato Sanches (LOSC) signs for PSG

After a Wednesday agitated by the rumor of his arrival at PSG, Renato Sanches is now officially a Paris-Saint-Germain player. Long courted by Milan.AC (Ita), the Portuguese midfielder preferred to join the French champion club.

The 24-year-old international midfielder does not arrive in unknown territory at PSG since he will find three teammates from the Portuguese selection (Danilo, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha) but also Christophe Galtier, whom he had as coach for two seasons in Lille. .

Even if the PSG did not want to communicate on the sum, the amount of the transfer from Lille to Paris would be around 15 million euros for a player who joins PSG until June 2027.

Great talent often injured

Great European hope in 2016 (golden boy prize for the best young person in Europe), Renato Sanches was spotted and signed very young by Bayern Munich who finally let him go to Lille in 2019 because of too many injuries. A tireless ball-scratcher, Renato Sanches is that kind of stalking midfielder who – when fit – has enormous physical capacity. He can play in the center but also left attacking midfielder. At LOSC, he played 25 games per season on average, often overtaken by physical glitches. He has thirty selections with Portugal.

“He is very explosive and hard-hitting, with impact”

In his press briefing before the meeting against Clermont Ferrand scheduled for Saturday at 9 p.m., Christophe Galtier mentioned the arrival of his former player in Lille. The Parisian coach particularly likes the player’s profile: “He is a player with qualities that others do not have. If I compare him to Marco (Verratti), Viti (Vitinha) or even Danilo (Pereira), he is a different player. He is very explosive and punchy, with impact. There was this opportunity on the market, to take a player who knew both the French championship and the very high level. We obviously seized this opportunity. Renato will now have to integrate because he arrives quite late. I believe he didn’t play at all during the preparation, since he was awaiting a transfer, so he will be late. We won’t take any chances with him. But Renato is a completely different player because of his explosiveness and his ability to break lines in the middle, as well as catch shots defensively.”
