François Bayrou was acquitted on Monday February 5 in the European parliamentary assistants affair. However, some of his comrades and his party were condemned. This decision could open the doors of government to him.
“They accuse you for years and then the day you are acquitted, they say it was because there was no proof. Of course there is no proof since it is false”, affirmed François Bayrou, president of MoDem, on the set of 20 Heures de France 2. He was, this Monday, February 5, acquitted in the affair of the European parliamentary assistants of his party. However, some members of his party have been convicted. “This sentence is a suspended sentence.”, he tempered.
A future as minister?
Rumors are circulating according to which François Bayrou could become Minister of National Education again, 30 years later. “I think there is a very big problem in National Education and not since this month“, he said. “This is probably the most important issue we have to address.“, he added. He has not denied his desire to return to government, although he currently holds the position of High Commissioner for Planning.
