Relatively spared, the Blues will face Croatia, Denmark and Austria

Two months after its victory in the League of Nations, the France team puts its title on the line. The competition, introduced by UEFA in 2018, will be back from next June for the start of the group stage. . These groups, in fact, were drawn in Nyon (Switzerland), Thursday, December 16. And the Blues were rather spared, by inheriting from Denmark, Croatia and Austria, in Pool 1 of League A.

For the second time, the Blues find Croatia in the League of Nations. Which had left a good memory for the French during the 2020-2021 edition (victories 4-2 and 2-1). Denmark, semi-finalist of the last Euro, will also be on the program, as will Austria. An opponent more faced since the qualifiers at the 2010 World Cup (one victory on each side).

On paper, the France team can be satisfied with this draw, since, at the same time, the other major nations will face an adversity that is undoubtedly more severe. Pool 3, bringing together Italy, England and Germany, promises fierce clashes. The duels between Spanish and Portuguese or Belgian and Dutch neighbors will also be closely scrutinized.

The format of this competition, in need of popularity, rest the same as in the previous edition. The 55 nations recognized by UEFA are divided into four leagues per level (A, B, C and D), themselves containing several pools. The promotion-relegation system will still be in force, as will the “Final Four” between the four group winners in League A. This will take place in June 2023. Finally, this League of Nations will also constitute a mode of qualification for the next Euro, played in 2024 in Germany.
