RECYQ-QUÉBEC launches a campaign to break certain received ideas

RECYQ-QUÉBEC wishes to improve public confidence in the province’s recovery system. A vast campaign is launched on Monday to break certain perceptions which are sometimes a brake on recycling more.

According to a study carried out by the organization, among the barriers to recycling more, 52% of respondents say they have doubts about the fact that the materials placed in the blue bin are actually recycled.

RECYQ-Québec believes that citizens want to continue to recover, but that they need to be reassured that these actions are not taken for nothing.

The goal is to divert materials from landfills as much as possible.

“This campaign allows us to finally demonstrate what happens with materials in sorting centers and what new life these materials can have,” explained the Vice-President, Operations Performance at RECYC-QUÉBEC, Sophie Langlois-Blouin.

The campaign also tackles the misinformation that can circulate in connection with recycling.

Thus, 75% of the materials placed in the blue bin are recovered. The rest is often material that should never have ended up in sorting centers for recycling.

The campaign continues until April 27.
