Ready for winter | The forgotten filter

The cabin filter is not essential for the proper functioning of your vehicle. That’s no reason to shun him, however.

Indeed, this filter, which is found today on almost all recently designed vehicles, including electric ones, has the function of retaining the numerous particles and harmful substances contained in the air. And these are more numerous at this time of year due to the very high humidity. However, when the filter is clogged, we notice poor demisting of the windshield and side windows, as well as the appearance of bad odors in the passenger compartment. The price of the filter rarely exceeds $40.

Before frost

Before the cold weather sets in, carefully hide the scars on your vehicle’s body with top-up paint. Then apply a good quality wax to preserve the shine of your vehicle. Don’t delay, since wax can generally only be applied when the mercury rises above 10°C. And while you’re at it, lubricate the door hinges and hood latch, then apply silicone jelly to the rubber seals to keep them in good condition and reduce the chance of ice forming. . This measure will give you more convenience than the traditional bucket of hot water!

More than a century after its creation, the windshield wiper blade has evolved very little.

This fall and we’ll put it back until spring

Windshield wiper blades have not evolved since their creation in 1907. This is probably why we forget them. It is recommended to change them every six months, in spring and fall. This will improve visibility and therefore your safety at little cost.

A snow broom

We move the golf bag

Take care to stock the luggage compartment with a snow brush, a good supply of windshield washer fluid, anti-slip plates, a bag of sand, a shovel, booster cables, a flashlight (don’t forget the batteries!) and a first aid kit. All of these items should be easily accessible, properly stored and securely secured. In addition, you should always keep warm clothing (coat, gloves, boots) and blankets with you in a waterproof plastic bag.
