Raphaël, amateur gardener and Mathilde, coordinator of the shared gardens of the social center of Rosporden

Usually when we talk about shared gardens, it is a large piece of land, divided between several amateur gardeners where everyone comes when they want to cultivate. But in Rosporden (29) at the Social Center “Chemins de Faire”, we do more. We share the work, we build a collective geodesic greenhouse in wood and tarpaulins, we exchange know-how during workshops for the exchange of seeds, the manufacture of pickles, sterilized beans or cuttings. Under the impetus of Mathilde Gaillard, the new social life coordinator at the social center, 4 plots have become collective, made available free of charge by the municipality for a few months, among the 21 lots of shared gardens (individual or associative) in total, that exist since 2014.

Here, the values are hoe, grelinette, gardening without phyto-sanitary products and we adapt to our needs, no more! The garden was even labeled “Refuge Gardens of the LPO” (League for the Protection of Birds) in 2021. We meet there on Thursdays to garden together, mow, make a lasagna mound for the flowers and we also prepare shared meal with garden vegetables. Annual membership is 10 €. At the moment one of the gardeners, Raphael has cauliflower, spinach, his last beets and prepares the land for next spring.

This Thursday October 28 and Friday October 29 from 2:30 pm, “Chemins de faire” begins to decorate the fall to make wooden benches with old chairs. And this Friday, a fancy dress evening will begin in the gardens, with cooking, tasting of witches cakes before a giant haunted mansion-style game at 8 p.m. at the Rosporden social center.
