The ousted film producer, who is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence, argued that during his trial, the verdict of which was pronounced in March 2020, the judge had made mistakes and would have been favorable to his conviction.

The appeals court rejected Harvey Weinstein’s arguments.

“We are disappointed, but we are not surprised,” said Juda Engelmayer, representative of the defendant’s legal team.

“We are studying all our options,” he added.

Harvey Weinstein is currently being held in a Los Angeles prison, where he is awaiting a second trial on charges of sexual assault and rape against five women. The acts of which he is accused would have been made between 2004 and 2013.

Recall that in total, nearly 90 women, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rosanna Arquette, have accused Harvey Weinstein of harassment, sexual assault or rape. The case propelled the #metoo movement.
